Use VoteMate in the way that suits you
The public tools are free and do not need a VoteMate account. You can choose topic buttons instead of typing a description.
Make words bigger
Choose “A+ Larger text” at the top of any page. Choose “Standard text” to switch back. This preference is saved only in this browser, when browser storage is available. It does not save your issue descriptions or answers.
You can also use your browser’s own zoom and your device’s display settings.
Listen to the information
Choose “Listen” to open the reading controls. In the explorer, “Listen to this source” reads a source’s summary and context. You can pause, resume or stop playback. Highlighted-text reading uses the words you selected.
Speech depends on your browser and its voice service. That service may process text and need an internet connection. If audio fails, the text stays available. Your device’s own screen reader or reading tools may offer another option.
Speak instead of typing
Tap the description box in the explorer and use the microphone on your phone keyboard if it has one. Check the words before searching. Dictation is provided by your keyboard or device; its provider controls that service.
Leave out names, addresses and private case details. VoteMate processes explorer descriptions in the page and does not save them or send them to an AI service.
Use a keyboard or screen reader
Press Tab to move between links and controls, Shift+Tab to go back, and Enter to open links. Use Space or Enter on buttons. “Skip to main content” is the first keyboard link. Topic and comparison buttons announce whether they are selected.
The Guide supports Escape to close. In the Listen panel, Escape closes the controls and returns focus to Listen. Closing the panel does not stop audio; choose Stop to end playback.
What still needs checking
VoteMate is a public beta. Real Android and iPhone speech, TalkBack, VoiceOver and 200% browser zoom checks are still outstanding. We have not certified that every device or assistive technology works. Political matching is also still under development; source coverage is incomplete.
Tell us about a barrier
Send the page link, what you were trying to do, and your device or browser if you know it. Avoid sharing passwords, private answers or other sensitive details.
